Dominican Republic - Know it! Part one.
Tourism in the Dominican Republic
To start talking of tourism in a given country, we must begin by the first inhabitants. As we know, the first people to get to step on the soil of the island, and are taken as though the residence, were the Taino or Indians who were natives of the Orinoco , which is why you can say they were the first in making tourism in the country and throughout the island later called The Spanish .
Mainly, Dominican historians, tell us that probably the Vikings and other ancient travelers visited the island of Quisqueya or the Spanish , this can not be said to be true, and that lack of concrete facts or something that the Vikings have left as a sign that they were actually in island soil, therefore, this is not going to be more than pure speculation. However, if we know that the second foreign visit to the island, was that of Christopher Columbus , on his travels in 1492 and according to others, this visit is listed as the first known foreign visitors on the island of Santo Domingo . Thus it can be said that the first visitors who trod this earth were Columbus and his companions in his first trip to America , so what is formally initiated the Tourism in America and also begins the history of tourism in the country.
The remaining parts of this important teaching about the origin of tourism in the Dominican Republic, will be published periodically in this blog.
